About

As part of the LG Improvement and Developments Knowledge Hub programme, and in partnership with FutureGov, we are organising a series of regional events (four) which will bring local government practitioners, social innovators and the voluntary sector together to explore how new media and open data can be used to improve local public services and share the practice of innovation between practitioners.

The events will be hosted by local authority partners showcasing their use of new media and open data. The objective is to provide a range of ideas that could be carried forward by that council in partnership with local people and a bank of ideas that could be used by other local authorities as well.

These events build on the recent Local by Social event held in June which followed on from the successful joint LG Improvement and Development and NESTA think piece of the same title. It featured a series of social innovation projects which used the internet as infrastructure, providing a platform for collaboration among citizens and between citizens and public services.
